Types of Scholarships
Each year, Upper Kittitas County Dollars for Scholars awards several scholarships to seniors graduating from UKC high schools. We offer scholarships for students planning to attend four-year universities, two-year colleges and vocational/trade schools. Criteria vary and are described for each scholarship in our online application system (see below).

Amounts of Scholarships
Individual scholarships usually range between $1,000 and $4,000 (occasionally above or below those amounts). Scholarships generally total $15,000 to $20,000 annually.

Applying for Local Scholarships
UKC Dollars for Scholars is a local chapter of Scholarship America, which maintains a secure web portal ("ChapterNet") that allows students to enter their profile data and match to scholarships offered locally and nationwide. Students can begin creating and updating their profiles at any time. Once the student "matches" to a scholarship, he or she will be notified on the Dashboard.

The UKC Dollars for Scholars application is easy to complete in ChapterNet. We require standard application information (though we do not ask for family financial data) and two brief "essays" of one page or less. These essays are important. Prior to submitting your essays, we encourage you to have them reviewed by a peer, your parents, teacher or other interested adults. Grammar, spelling and punctuation are important. Eligibility for Scholarships Offered Nationwide
The more complete your profile, the greater chance you have of qualifying for a scholarship. While UKC Dollars for Scholars are based solely on merit, many national scholarships are based on financial need. In order to be considered for scholarships that base their decisions on need, you will need to provide financial information. During your profile setup make sure to complete the Parent/Financial Info section.
